Tuning for Pedal Steel Guitar- Session Player

In this video I go over how to tune the pedal steel guitar. Below is a link to the cents I use when tuning the instrument. I am in E 9th tuning for this lesson. If you ever need a session pedal steel player I can send tracks from my studio to your studio with great quality. I also teach lessons and you can reach out to me at www.jjmusiclessons.com I own a music school in Folsom, California called JJ Music Lessons. It is important to use your ears when it comes to tuning the pedal steel. Even if you follow the charts below you'll still find that you need to check the tuning to make sure it's sounding right. Feel free to make adjustments and try new things! The slide I use a Dunlop bullet slide. In this recording I am using an MSA Classic Pedal Steel Guitar into a Goodrich passive volume pedal into a 1968 Fender Twin Reverb Blackface. Using an Sm57 for the cab and a Shure SM7B for vocals. I am a pro steel player in Sacramento so if you need steel for your gigs, tour, or recordings- LMK. Pedal steel stings are tuned like this- B,D,E, F#,G#,B,E,G#,D#,F# I tuned the B to 442, E to 442, G# to 439, F# to 441.5 D# to 441.5 Each of the levels and pedals also has its own tuning. A chart for all of this can be found using the link below-
